Why are products tested?

Products are tested in order to verify their conformity with certain reference bases and to confirm that they are safe to their users and the environment. In practice, the goods are assessed for conformity with directives and norms applicable in a given case. Laboratory tests are used both for the regular product and production checks, as well as during the certification process. The test reports are then used by the Product Certification Body to verify whether the products assessed fulfil the requirements of applicable legal documents. Thus, the testing process is one of the key elements necessary to obtain a certificate.
