Pre-Shipment Inspections

What is a Pre-Shipment Inspections (PSI)?

Pre-shipment inspections are an additional service which is not directly related to the product certification process, and is dedicated mainly to importers and purchasers of individual product batches. They are performed when a minimum of 80% of the finished products are ready and packed in dispatch packaging. This type of inspection is conducted directly at the factory, and in specific cases it can also be carried out at the loading site or at the forwarder’s.
Inspection results enable the principal to make an informed decision with respect to product dispatch. If the quality of the product departs from the specification or contractual expectations, it is possible to postpone the loading and take further measures at the supplier’s to determine the reason for nonconformities. Pre-dispatch inspections are especially recommended when transport costs are high, and delivery dates extended.
